I met Zuki when he was in high school and already hired as a youth organizer to have an impact on college access, amplifying student voice, and financial literacy. He left an enduring legacy at Oasis Center as we started Oasis College Connection based on the work of Zuki, Tayo, and their peers. What they didn't finish, was passed onto the next cohort of activated youth. To this day, we have 12 College Mentors spread across schools and community sites that help remove barriers to education, including a Student Bill of Rights that was adopted by our school district. I can remember Zuki and his team persuading Principals to adopt it while encouraging peers to own their education. His spirit and work lives on through all the youth, especially first generation college going ones, that are the beneficiaries of Zuki's actions!

We at Oasis Center, are especially honored Zuki chose us as the recipient of donations in his memory. We pay tribute to you Zuki, and love you, always.

I am deeply saddened and at the same time, grateful for knowing and sharing space with Zu'. For the last 3 years I've had the opportunity of mentoring and partnering with Zuki on his UX design journey. What a positive light he was - I'm certain he touched many with that positivity.
